Mammillaria Elongata

Perfect for your table decor. Care is needed for the provision of water and light. Growth depends on the atmosphere, nature, and weather.

Intro:

Lady’s finger Cooper King Golden stars Golden lace cactus is a species of flowering plant from the Cactaceae family and is native to central Mexico. Naturally, It exists in rooted form. These elongated oval stems grow in densely packed clusters and can reach a Height of up to 15 cm or 6 inches and can gain in diameter as much as 3 cm or 1.2 inches

Temperature and Lights:

This plant enjoys summers and direct sunlight so make sure to put it in a bright place. The best temperature for Mammillaria Elongata is over 18°C or 65°F. Although it can tolerate temperatures as low as -6.7°C or 20F You may supplement this beauty with a grow light if you don’t have a bright window.

Colors:

As one can observe it’s covered in Spine, and these spines usually range from white, and brown to golden in color. Although white and yellow flowers bloom on the top usually in spring Watering Cacti need less water So Be careful! Overwatering kills them. Water once a week, let the soil dry first use the Sock and dry technique its the best way to go as I always say when It comes to cacti always choose less water than more water. Eatable No toxic effects reported for mammillaria elongate of course it has many spikes so feel free to eat it if you can…

Soil mixture:

Like other cacti, Mammillaria elongate requires a well-drained, loose, sandy potting mix which you can get from your local plant store. or you can prepare your own by adding 30% soil or clay, 30% sand, 20 % cocopeat, and 20 % of something like pumice or perlite or coarse sand, etc.

Propagation:

Propagating this plant is super easy. If you see babies growing on the sides simply twist and turn to pull them out but make sure the baby stems are taller than 1 inch to ensure a higher success rate now let them rest for 2 to 7 days in a shaded place to let the callus develop. And Once callus is observed you may plant them in a Pot having a well-drained potting mix and done! It will grow roots in a month or two if provided conditions are in favor.

Fertilizer:

To get the best result you may add cactus compost in the container get it from our website link in the description of the course you can prepare your own cacti compost but I’m not going to dive into the process of making cacti compost for now as it’s a topic for another video.
